What are Passkeys?

FIDO Alliance

FIDO encompasses a comprehensive spectrum of authentication technologies, which includes biometrics like fingerprint and iris scanning, voice recognition, facial recognition etc.
The FIDO2 project represents a collaborative initiative between the FIDO Alliance and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), to establish strong web authentication. Basically, FIDO2 includes the W3C Web Authentication (WebAuthN) standard and the FIDO Client to Authenticator Protocol 2 (CTAP2).
